Inspired by our commitment to the latest, most effective periodontal treatments, we’re pleased to provide both surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy at Hansen Periodontics.

From prevention and diagnosis to repairing and rejuvenating your oral health — we’re with you every step of the way.

What is periodontal disease?
Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection attacking the foundation of your teeth. It is usually caused by plaque and calculus build-up around the gumline. If your body doesn’t respond well to this invasion, it will lead to tooth loss. Other symptoms include:

  • Swollen gums that bleed easily

  • Sensitive teeth

  • Bad breath (halitosis)

  • Gum recession and bone loss

Osseous Surgery

Gum disease often causes deep pockets to form around your teeth. These pockets are the perfect hiding spot for bacteria and are difficult to clean on your own, this results in further bone and tissue loss.

Our periodontists offer osseous surgery, also known as pocket depth reduction, to restore your health.

This procedure is usually recommended after other therapy options have proved unsuccessful or as a treatment for advanced stages of gum disease.

Bone Regeneration

Gum disease can eat away at the bone and hard tissue surrounding your teeth. When this happens, a bone graft builds up the foundation around your teeth to maintain its health.

Additionally, if you’ve lost a tooth due to gum disease or trauma and are considering an implant, a bone graft may be necessary to ensure the implant is a success.

Gum Recession Treatments

Healthy gums are essential for a healthy smile.

We make it easier than ever to prevent and treat dental gum recession and achieve lasting oral health.

If your gums are receding or pulling away from your teeth, don’t wait to contact us. The faster we diagnose the underlying problem, the better for your health. We offer comprehensive and personalized gum recession treatments to restore your smile.

Bone Regeneration

Save a tooth or support an implant.

Encourage your body’s natural ability to regenerate tissue and bone for a healthy foundation.

Successfully stimulating bone growth around your teeth requires a technique-sensitive approach. Dr. Hansen has the training and experience to provide a comfortable experience and high-quality dental bone grafts at Hansen Periodontics.

Sinus Lift

A successful dental implant procedure is largely dependent on the quantity and quality of the bone where the implant is placed.

If you need a dental implant in the upper back of your mouth, the proximity to your sinus cavity, and lack of bone height in this area, can make this procedure difficult.

Sinus lift surgery is often the answer.

Using advanced techniques, Dr. Hansen will ensure a successful implant by raising your sinus floor before regenerating sufficient bone.

Gum Recession Therapy

Gum recession is a common result of gum disease and refers to lost tissue along your gum line. This can make your teeth quite sensitive and can increase your risk of tooth decay and even tooth loss.

We offer a combination of traditional treatment and state-of-the-art techniques to give you personalized care and superior results.

Scaling & Root Planing (SRP)

Scaling and root planing is one of the most common non-surgical methods for stopping gum disease in its tracks.

Our periodontists or one of our experienced dental hygienists will use high-tech instruments to scale all plaque, bacterial toxins, and tartar deposits from your teeth. They’ll also smooth any rough areas on your roots’ surfaces.

This advanced dental cleaning removes bacteria, keeps plaque and tartar from re-adhering underneath your gum line, and encourages your gums to heal and reattach themselves more firmly.

Soft Tissue Augmentation (Gum Graft)

Also known as gum grafting, soft tissue augmentation is a traditional and effective method for treating receding gums.

This procedure involves using donor tissue or soft tissue from your palate to cover exposed root surfaces and rebuild the gum line.

We offer sedation dentistry options to ensure your gum graft procedure is comfortable and successful. Your mouth should be feeling back to normal in about two weeks.

Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR)

Guided Tissue Regeneration (GTR), is a procedure used to fix problems caused by a lack of healthy and stable bone around your teeth.

What causes this bone loss? It’s often the result of injury, infection, decay, lack of teeth — or more commonly — gum disease.

In advanced stages of the disease, the infection breaks down the bone and tissues keeping your teeth in place. Left untreated, your teeth may become loose from lack of support and eventually fall out.

Our team is here to help. Through GTR, we’ll create a strong and secure foundation around your teeth and ensure your smile lasts a lifetime.

Systemic Health & Periodontal Disease

Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body, Healthy You

Rebuild your gum line with soft tissue augmentation.

Your mouth is the window to your body and health. Infection and inflammation in the mouth — like that caused by periodontal (gum) disease — can affect the health of your entire body.

At Hansen Periodontics, we’re committed to helping you achieve total systemic health. Our periodontal team is here to keep your gums healthy, reducing your risk of getting sick and improving your ability to fight off a virus.
